Start by loving yourself.

Ik vind dit zelf een van mijn mooiste gedichten. Er word je altijd gezegd; Begin bij het houden van jezelf, dat is het aller belangrijkste. Terwijl er nooit word vertelt hoe je dat doet, houden van jezelf. Ja verder moet je het maar gewoon lezen dan snap je het wel. Ik denk ook dat je jezelf wel kunt herkennen in deze tekst.

Start by loving yourself.

People always tell you,
“I promise it’ll be okay.
Just start by loving yourself,
You are nice anyway”. 

But may I just ask you,
How do I love me?
You think it sounds silly,
So read this and you’ll see. 

I can’t look into the mirror,
Cause I don’t love my face.
You say “just look inside”,
But my eyes can’t find the way.

 I can’t tell myself,
About my good and shining part.
And I can't really tell,
What is happening in my heart. 

I don’t know how,
I can love what I wanna be.
How do I love myself,
If my mind is locked instead of free? 

Why do people say,
“Start by loving yourself”.
You better tell me how I do that,
Because I could really use your help. 

So instead of telling me,
What I need to do.
Put your arms around my middle,
And start by showing you love me too.
